July 2019 (effective date) Ann Brogan appointed to Executive Committee, Virginia State Bar.

 

April 2019  Karen Crowley certified as court appointed special advocate (CASA) for City of Virginia Beach.

 

April 2019 Ann Brogan re-elected in an uncontested election to second three year term, Virginia State Bar Council representative, 4th Judicial Circuit.

 

March 2019
Karen Crowley spoke on the topic of “The Bankruptcy Discharge Injunction” at the Annual Bankruptcy Practice Seminar sponsored by the Virginia State Bar.   This annual seminar was held in Glen Allen, Virginia.

 

February 2019 Karen Crowley spoke on the topic of “Individual Chapter 11’s” at the 27th Annual Hal J. Bonney, Jr. Seminar on Bankruptcy Law and Practice held in February 2019 in Norfolk, Virginia.

 

January 2019 Ann Brogan, Joseph Liberatore and Karen Crowley selected to Super Lawyers (Thomson Reuters) for 2019.

Joseph Liberatore, for the fourth consecutive year received AV-Preeminent Peer Review Status (highest possible rating) by Martindale-Hubbell. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Karen Crowley named “Top 50 Female Attorneys” in Virginia Super Lawyers.

 

December 2018 Ann Brogan completed 40 hours ABI/ St. John’s Mediation Training, St. John’s University-Manhattan Campus, New York NY.

 

November 2018 Ann Brogan and Karen Crowley again named Virginia Business, “Legal Elite” in Bankruptcy/Creditors’ Rights (2013 to date).

 

October 2018 Nathaniel Scott joined the Crowley Liberatore team as its newest associate attorney. Nathaniel received his Juris Doctor in May 2018 from Regent University and sat for the July Bar examination. Upon receiving news that he’d passed the exam, Crowley Liberatore was pleased to welcome him to the firm as a bankruptcy associate.

 

August 2018 Ann Brogan named 40th Reunion Gift Co-Chair, Davidson College.

 

July 2018 Ann Brogan participated at the Virginia Bar Association 128th Summer Meeting as a speaker on a panel presenting the topic “Bankruptcy Law Primer for the Non-Bankruptcy Attorney” in Hot Springs, Virginia.

 

2018 Ann Brogan, Joseph Liberatore and Karen Crowley participated with CARE to present Credit Abuse Resistance Education to high school students in the Virginia public school system, including with the City of Hampton, the City of Newport News and the City of Virginia Beach.

 

2018 Joseph Liberatore was nominated and selected to serve again on the Board of Directors for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Joseph Liberatore again received AV-Preeminent Peer Review Status by Martindale-Hubbell.

 

September 2017 Karen Crowley participated as a speaker at the 32nd Annual Mid-Atlantic Institute on Bankruptcy and Reorganization, speaking on the topic of “Individual Chapter 11.”

 

July 2017 Ann Brogan named to Budget & Finance Committee, Virginia State Bar.

 

March 2017 Karen Crowley spoke at the Annual Bankruptcy Practice Seminar sponsored by the Virginia State Bar.  She addressed the topic of “Practical Considerations in Confirming a Chapter 11 Plan.”

Karen Crowley was selected to serve on the Disciplinary Committee for the Second District – Section 1 for the Virginia State Bar.

Joseph Liberatore again received AV-Preeminent Peer Review Status by Martindale-Hubbell. He continued to serve on the Board of Directors for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.

 

2016  Karen Crowley was nominated and selected to serve on the Board of Governors for the Bankruptcy Section of the Virginia State Bar.

Ann Brogan named to Bankruptcy Law Section Council, Virginia Bar Association.

Ann Brogan elected to first full term Virginia State Bar Council representative, 4th Judicial Circuit.

Joseph Liberatore was nominated and selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Joseph Liberatore was awarded AV-Preeminent Peer Review Status (highest possible rating) by Martindale-Hubbell.

 

2016 Karen Crowley was selected as a court approved mediator in the James A. Moncure Chapter 7 bankruptcy case and mediated numerous disputes relating to avoidance actions asserted by the Chapter 7 Trustee against third parties.

 

2016 Karen Crowley was appointed as a court approved mediator in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, in the Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc., et al. bankruptcy proceedings.  She participated in mediating avoidance actions and other claims asserted by the Liquidating Trustee of the HDL Liquidating Trust against third parties.

 

2015 Ann Brogan elected Secretary & Vice President Strategic Planning, Virginia Stage Company Board of Trustees.

 

2014 Ann Brogan elected in a special election to State Bar Council representative, 4th Judicial Circuit to complete term vacated by attorney appointed judge, Norfolk Circuit Court.

 

2013 Ann Brogan and was named to Virginia Business’ “Legal Elite” and has maintained this status through 2019.

 

2012 Karen Crowley and Joseph Liberatore were named to Virginia Business’ “Legal Elite.”

 

May 2013 Ann Brogan spoke at a National Business Institute Continuing Legal Education program in Virginia Beach on “Identifying Fraudulent Conveyances.”

 

April 2013 Ann Brogan was a panelist on the Small Business Panel at the Virginia Wesleyan Spring 2013 Business Conference.

 

March 2013 John Ryan and Ann Brogan re-elected to board of directors for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association. As TBBA Past President, John plans to spearhead the TBBA’s new mentoring program; Ann will co-chair the 22nd Annual Tidewater Bankruptcy Conference scheduled for February 2014.

 

2013
Karen Crowley and Joseph Liberatore named to Best Lawyers and Karen Crowley honored with recognition as Lawyer of the Year in the Norfolk market  for Bankruptcy attorneys.

 

December 2012 Karen Crowley listed on the Top 50 Women Virginia Super Lawyers 2012 list. This top list features only the best of the best female attorneys. 

 

October 2012 Jon Grasso volunteered on behalf of the Virginia Stage Company at the 25th Annual Town Point Virginia Wine Festival in Norfolk, Virginia.

 

October 2012 Ann Brogan received the highest peer review rating of “AV” from LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Rating Services.

 

September 2012 Karen Crowley on panel discussion with Bankruptcy Judge Brian Kenney and attorney Craig Goldblatt at the 27th Annual Mid-Atlantic Institute on Bankruptcy Reorganization Practice in Charlottesville, Virginia.

 

August 2012 Ann Brogan spoke in Norfolk, Virginia, on tenant or landlord bankruptcy at the continuing legal education seminar on “Landlord Tenant Law–Surviving in a Difficult Economy Seminar” offered by Sterling Education Services, Inc.

 

2012 Karen Crowley named Super Lawyer for each year beginning in 2009 and Rising Star during 2007 and 2008.

 

March 2012 John Ryan and Ann Brogan re-elected to board of directors for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association; John begins one year term as TBBA President; Ann was named co-chair of 21st Annual Tidewater Bankruptcy Conference scheduled for February 22, 2013.

 

February – April 2012 Ann Brogan worked with a team of volunteer attorneys to teach basic trial skills to students at Blair Middle School and conduct mock trials in Norfolk Circuit Court for the 6th Annual Model Judiciary Program for Norfolk Public Schools sponsored by the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association.
